Getting Involved Getting involved with the pack is fun, challenging, and rewarding all at the same time. Parent volunteers find their experiences help them to become better parents. Dedicating your time, talent and enthusiasm can pay dividends in many enriching ways such as;
How can I help? There are several ways in which you may get involved with the pack. Here are a list of some important ways you may help: Cubmaster Conducts monthly pack meetings. Aids den leaders by coordinating monthly program for all leaders. Attends monthly pack leader's meetings and the monthly leaders roundtable meetings. Committee Chair Conducts monthly pack leader's meeting to help plan program. Ensures that adequate support to run program is given to Cubmasters and den leaders by committee members. Helps recruit additional leaders as needed. Committee members Attend monthly pack leaders' meeting to help plan program and take care of records, finances, advancement, activities, membership, etc. Cub Scout Den Leader Meets a couple times a month for about one hour with a den of six to eight boys. Den meeting is held in den leader's home, a church, or other suitable place. The den leader determines time, day, and location of den meeting this most convenient for him or her. Attends monthly pack leader's meetings and monthly roundtable meetings. Tiger Cub Den Leader Coordinates shared leadership among the Tiger Cub adult partners. This ensures den meetings and outings are planned, prepared for, and conducted by all adult partners on a rotating basis, and den activities provide advancement opportunities for the boys in the den. Serves as den host for family members at pack leaders' meetings and the monthly roundtable meetings. Webelos Den Leader Same as Cub Scout den leader except works with older Webelos Scouts. Encourages periodic parent/son overnight campouts. Attends monthly pack leaders meeting and the monthly leaders roundtable meetings. Pack Trainer Conducts orientation for new families and pack leaders. Trains new leaders for their specific leadership positions or encourages participation in district training. Encourages pack leaders to attend ongoing training, such as roundtables and youth protection training. Conducts other training as designated. Keeps track of pack training records. Pack trainers should be trained in the council Trainer Development Conference. Parent Helpers Assist pack and/or den with specific projects as needed by the leaders. All parents help their sons with advancement.
Resources and Training for Cub Scout Leaders The cub scouts provide numerous training materials to help volunteers become scout leaders. Training courses are open to anyone and parents wanting to learn more are always welcome. One of the first steps is Fast Start training, on your computer. You can access the Cub Scout Fast Start training on-line program here. Leaders Roundtables is a monthly meeting for all adult volunteers. You get help with crafts, games, skits, and songs for use at den meetings. Program Helps booklet contains the monthly theme meeting plans for den and pack meetings and show you how to do crafts and games. All registered adults receive Scouting Magazine and the Navigator (council newsletter). Awarding winning videos for teaching.
